Packing Tips

Here are some packing tips that can help you save some cash:
  1. Do it yourself. You’ll be surprised at how much money you can save by packing your things on your own.
  2. Ask a mover to pack the appliances and large items.
  3. Put your items in medium box. Make sure that the box weighs less than 50 lbs.
  4. Make sure that you pack all of the expensive items such as family heirlooms, jewelry, sports memorabilia, hobby collections, and photo albums.
  5. Choose boxes that are of the right size. Different boxes have a different purpose.
  6. Take your precious time when packing the items. Wrap fragile items in a bubble wrap, use a strong tape, and if you have time, buy a strapping tape to secure your items.
  7. Prepare your appliances by unplugging them before the movers arrive.
  8. Unfortunately, movers will not transport pets and plants. You have to do that on your own.
  9. You will also have to deal with moving perishable items and hazardous materials such as ammunition, oils, paint, varnishes, thinners, anything flammable, and illegal drugs.
  10. Place all of the items in a room near the door for an easier loading process.
